Thai Cuisine

Freshness and variety – these are two main characteristic features of Thai cuisine. Meat is the most common Thai food, especially chicken and pork. Thai pepper and Thai chilies in fish sauce are often served on the side. Rice is the base of Thai cuisine. It is one of the most flavorful in the world. Soups are also popular in the country. Noodles either egg noodles or rice noodles are normally stir-fried or made as a soup. Among the Thai specialties Tom yam (a coconut-milk soup with ginger, lemon grass, prawns or chicken), Pad Thai (stir-fried rice-noodles), Salim (sweet noodles in coconut milk). Popular fruits are papaya, jackfruit, mangosteens, rambutans, pomelos (similar to grapefruits).
